PROGRAM POLICIES

Rolling Admissions

Students are accepted anytime during a semester with the exception of the last three classes. Tuition is calculated from the first class a child attends to the last class of the semester. Future absences anticipated by parents cannot be deducted from the tuition.

Emergency/Inclement Weather Cancellations

Canceled classes due to inclement weather or emergency closings are not refundable. Makeup classes are offered, only if schedule permits, at the discretion of the Executive Director. Makeup classes are generally not held on the same day of the week as the class canceled unless they are offered during school breaks.

Student Absences

Parents must notify the executive director of their child's absence at least 48 hours before the class begins in order to be eligible for a makeup class. If a student is ill after returning from school on the day of his/her class, the executive director must be notified prior to the start of that class. Since our program differentiates the curriculum for each student, teachers need to know of any absences before the class begins.

"First Class" Refund Policy

If, after an enrolled student attends his/her first class, the teacher or Executive Director feel that VEG is not an appropriate placement, a refund is given for the total amount of the tuition paid minus the first class attended. Refunds are not given if a student or parent decides not to continue the program after the second class is attended.

Gifted Pre-K-Kindergarten 1-4 PM Class Single Student Option

Though parents are expected to contact the executive director, in advance, if their child is unable to attend a class, "last minute" situations can arise. In the event that only ONE STUDENT shows up for a gifted pre-k-kindergarten class held from 1:00-4:00 PM, that student can (1) receive private instruction for the duration of the class, at an additional cost (2) make up the class by attending another gifted pre-k-kindergarten class on a different day or (3) receive a credit towards any future VEG class, special program or summer workshop if used within a year. Refunds are not issued for canceled classes due to *low enrollment (*only one child).

MakeUp Classes

1. Credits or refunds are not issued for missed classes.
2. If space permits and a two-week notification of the exact date of the desired makeup class is given, in writing (via email or text),
to the Executive Director, a maximum of two makeup classes per semester are offered to each student. More than two makeups per
semester disturb the pace and continuity of the curriculum for both the students and the teachers.
3. Makeups cannot be "carried over" to the next semester and are only offered in a class of the same age grouping.
4. Due to extensive preparation for the "End-of-the-Semester" Curriculum Demonstrations, fall semester students must attend
their makeups by November 15 and spring semester students by May 1.
5. If the child's age grouping is only offered once a week in one VEG location, makeups are attended at the other VEG location.
If there is only one class offered in a particular age grouping, makeups are not offered.
6. If a student misses a CORE class, he/she can make-up the class on another day of the same age-grouping.
7. Since the STEAM classes are more costly, if a student wishes to attend a CORE makeup by taking a STEAM class, an
additional cost per hour is required to cover needed materials and curriculum accommodations. Only one STEAM class per year can
be used as a makeup for students in CORE classes.
8. STEAM students may attend a CORE class as a makeup, but refunds are not given for the tuition difference.
9. Due to the extensive costs of the equipment, curriculum materials, and staff, STEAM classes do not offer makeups.

VEG: A Soft Place To Fall

Village East Gifted provides each gifted child with a safe and nurturing learning environment. VEG's "zero tolerance" policy is strictly enforced disallowing bullying, discipline problems, negative peer or teacher interactions and/or class disruptions. Participants exhibiting any of these behaviors will be removed from the program with or without notice.
