Village East Gifted offers private sessions or class enrichment (for homeschooled children), in-person and via Zoom, during the day, evenings and on the weekends. The purpose of this program is to meet the individual enrichment needs of each student through the implementation of an "all-subject" academic curriculum. The curriculum is often three grade levels above their current school curriculum and is differentiated to accommodate personal interests. Optional home assignments are offered to allow students the opportunity to work outside the VEG classroom and complete creative research projects on their own or with a parent.
Many parents can detect "giftedness" before their child turns two years old. Other families frequently miss the "signs" of giftedness and attempt to enroll their child in a mainstream pre-school program. After a short period of time, (sometimes a day), some parents suddenly realize that their child is "different" from their peers. His/her academic performance surpasses most, if not all, of their other classmates. "Seasoned" or experienced pre-school teachers will also recognize these characteristics. Hopefully, they will contact you and ask for a meeting to discuss your child's needs. This is when the "search" begins… looking for a program or school district on Long Island that will give your child what he/she needs. From age 2, Village East Gifted provides private enrichment, in-person or via Zoom, to help supplement or replace his/her mainstream pre-school program. Enrichment sessions can be up to three hours in duration at an hourly rate.
Once a gifted child reaches kindergarten, academically, they are often ready for the second or third grade. VEG teaches these children, in-person or via Zoom, curriculum that covers all academic subjects approximately two-three grade levels above their current grade. Private enrichment sessions are held during the day, after school and in the evenings. The sessions are up to three hours in duration and are charged at a private hourly rate.
Village East Gifted provides enrichment, in-person or via Zoom, to gifted students who need continuous, advanced subject matter on a private basis. Each lesson is designed based on the child's aptitude, interests and academic level. Study skills, research base projects, and foundational lessons, in all subject areas, are covered and taught until mastery is achieved. There is a strong emphasis on writing proficiency throughout the curriculum.
